OBJECTIVE
Elevantics was approached by Cassette Tape, a local reggae jam band, to create a memorable band logo that reflected their unique style. The band wanted a design that not only highlighted their name but also captured the vibrant beach culture. It also celebrated the Hispanic influences in their music. Additionally, they wanted a logo that would be versatile for posters, social media, merchandise, and promotional materials. Our goal was to develop a custom band logo that visually represented their energy, cultural roots, and musical identity.
Creative Strategy
We began by exploring concepts that would merge the band’s reggae vibe with elements of beach life and Hispanic culture. After reviewing multiple ideas, we proposed a Día de Muertos-inspired cassette tape logo. This design incorporated hand-drawn, graffiti-style lettering reminiscent of the handmade posters commonly seen in beach communities. Furthermore, the playful yet bold aesthetic reflected the band’s dynamic live performances and approachable personality.
The integration of the cassette tape motif paid homage to the analog roots of music. It also connected with fans of reggae and jam band genres. By combining cultural references with modern illustration techniques, we ensured that the logo would resonate with both long-time fans and new audiences.
Brand Identity and Applications
Once finalized, the Cassette Tape logo became the cornerstone of the band’s visual identity. The logo has been applied to a variety of materials. These include promotional posters, social media graphics, and merchandise like T-shirts and stickers. It also appears on event signage.
